Interoute, Europe’s most advance network operator, has announced the launch of iSip, expected to be the first secure secure VoIP service for corporate businesses.
The company is attempting to immitate Skype and the service it provides, hoping to replicate their success. Similarly to Skype, Interoute will provide voice over internet protocal (VoIP) technology to its clientelle.
“The service is a significant breakthrough in business telephony because it provides companies with the first secure, enterprise-class alternative to popular VoIP services such as Skype.”
Interoute claimed that with it will offer an alternative to Skype for businesses by offering free Internet calls, free national fixed line calls and radically reduced charges to mobiles and international calls, without any security concerns.
Before Interoute came along, companies such as Skype and Yahoo have been providing VoIP service but refrained from cheap costs for fear of easy access of their networks to hackers and viruses. However, Interoute says this is not one of their concerns.
“iSiP is like Skype without the ‘Skypemares’,” said James Kinsella, Interoute’s Executive Chairman.
Interoute hopes that its cheap voice calls service will help lure corporations to sign up for their data service aswell.
“For us voice is also data. That’s our pitch to customers,” said Kinsella.
