Verizon Spawns VoIP Competition

In an ongoing effort to provide the best wireless service in Georgia, Verizon Wireless has again expanded its presence in Georgia over the first quarter of 2006 with network enhancements in 23 cities, including the expansion of the company’s Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) third generation wide-area network to additional metro Atlanta locations.


More than 1 million customers use VoIP services deployed by Sprint Nextel Corp in tandem with cable companies. “VoIP customer count had increased fourfold in the past year.” The company said on Monday.

Sprint Nextel, with its operational headquaters in Overland Park, and corporate headquarters in Reston, VA., has previously reported that its VoIP deals with cable companies which generated $100 million in revenue in 2005.

Keeping up with the rest, AT&T has created a new service package for homeowners that order AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Express or Pro that will give them technical support on not only the internet, but also on the personal computers.

For an added subscription, residential customers will be able to get tech support for their desktop and laptop computers, digital devices such as PDAs, digital cameras, TIVO, CD/DVD burners, sound and video cards, USB devices, modems, MP3 players and finally, monitors.

Diamond I, INC, a developer of wireless gaming products recently announced its intention to pursue cellular-gambling opportunities through product offering that embody its recently acquired patent-pending voice recognition biometric security technology.
