Yahoo has released a beta, available to the public, of its acreditted instant messaging suite: Yahoo Messenger with Voice. With the newly created ‘Phone Out’ feature, Americans can make VoIP calls using their yahoo-messengered PC’s to connect to any type of phone service across 180 countries and talk with ease.
Calls originating from the US or from 30 odd countries can be placed for less than two cents a minute. US PC owners may receive calls to their personal computer from land or mobile phones for $2.99/mo or $29.90/yr with the new ‘Phone In’ feature. ‘Phone In’ allows people to use their phone number while they travel.
These features, however, were originally showcased to international users in December of ‘05. The Messenger beta from Yahoo is currently available in eight regionalized versions: including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and Ireland.
